Mirage on the TF Wiki

*Personality:
Cool and confident are two words that deeply describe Mirage. For the most part, the robot Ferrari is composed and well-assured in his own abilities. And why shouldn't he be? He's got looks, talent, and the best (or worst?) part of it all--he knows it. After all, one doesn't choose a Ferrari Italia 458 if you're not going to be confident enough to sport it with STYLE. He's definitely one of the flashier members of the Autobot team, and he's suave enough to remain completely cool about it. It'll show mostly in his body language, especially when speaking to you. When listening, he'll fold his arms, leaning on one foot to show just how lax he is when in a discussion, and if speaking, he'll use expressive hand gestures to emphasize his point. He romanticizes his speaking, as if telling you "Yes, you are speaking to a car more expensive than your house payment. He knows." To put things into perspective? A sturdy italian spirit in the body of a rather frail italian car.

As if being confident wasn't enough, he's very eloquent when it comes to speaking. The romanticized gestures aside, his accent does wonders for making things sound rather charming, no matter what the topic. Couple this with etiquette, and you've got one smooth talker. As such, he'll use formal terms, like signore (Italian for 'sir') and 'signora' (Italian for 'lady') when addressing people, along with other affectionate terms unless otherwise stated. He'll slip into Italian when he's not comfortable enough to say a word in English eloquently enough, hoping that the word sounds much classier in the language he first downloaded as opposed to him attempting to whing it. Manners are a huge thing to him, and he'd be lying if he said he didn't like showing them off to people~

Manners are fine and dandy, but they're nothing if the proper respect isn't put behind them. And that's another thing Mirage takes in great stride. He may have no insecurities about his own abilities, but he will take slight offense if an Autobot questions him. After all, the Bots are built with trust as their foundation. He'll often assume it in the tone when he's spoken to, and will, as such, match that tone. If he's given an order by someone who hasn't earned his respect, he'll be just as curt back. The basic rule with this bot is: In order to get respect, you must give it. And believe him, he expects it. Who's the one risking his life out there for you?

This isn’t to say that Mirage doesn’t have a temper. As stated above, if there is the slightest of doubt in his Autobot brethren that he can’t do his job effectively, he will get rather indignant, twitching his wings and muttering in disgust. If you poke him enough, he’ll act out. This only seems to be among Autobots, as they’re the ones who he really seeks the respect from. If a Con says it? It’ll be taken with a grain of salt, if that. Some Autobots do this mainly to mess with him, as he has yet to tell the difference in jokingly-questioning-abilities and actually questioning. The temper can be a bit of a boon, however. Coupled with it is extreme stubbornness, and because of that, he’s a tough bot to bring down. His armor might be thin, but his spirit is much harder to break.

*Powers/Abilities:
What Mirage excels in the most is stealth operations. One would think this is rather difficult, being a completely out-of-place Ferrari Italia 458--and a crimson one at that. But this never bothers the sports car. He has a special cloaking ability, where he can turn completely invisible for an indefinite period of time. One would think that this would be a blessing from the Allspark, as he can sneak through enemy territory almost undetected. It’s not all fun and games though, as he is still quite tangible. Should he get hit by any blaster fire of any kind, he is instantly exposed, and that doesn’t bode well. Being a sports car, he doesn’t have very protective shielding, and thus is why he isn’t often on the front lines, as much as he may want to be. Nevertheless, his operations are invaluable to the Autobot cause. His strengths are in sneaking behind the enemy and catching them from behind, and that’s something he holds with a lot of pride.

Coupled with the cloaking is his ability to create holograms. Using an electro-disrupter, he can make himself appear in another location, or multiple 'fake' versions of himself. He uses this to disguise which one is the real 'him'. A master of illusion, this one is.  He will often use this technique to make a get away, or plan it ahead of a battle, because if used in the wrong place at the wrong time, he's just as exposed as before, and thus rendering the technique useless.  It also has a downside, as if he is hit, the other holograms will dissipate, leaving the only 'real' one left.

Aside from his cloaking ability, he comes equipped literally to the ‘bone’ with weaponry. Attached to his two arms are giant scythe-like blades, bent backwards towards the elbow. At rest position, they sit relatively close to his arms, and he has to be slightly careful when waving them around, as they are very sharp and quite large, stretching past his elbow and almost to his shoulder area. The only time they’re even more dangerous is when used in battle, when they spring into a position slightly farther away from his arm. This is the ‘armed’ position, and Mirage will use them as he sees fit. The blades operate on a pivotal wheel, meaning they can slice both vertically and horizontally, depending on how Mirage uses them. This is his main weapon of choice, and he likes it because of it’s lethality and melee tendencies. It’s a bit contradictory to his ‘stealth’ motif, but nothing says master assasination like a slice in the back.

Mirage also comes equipped with two long cables with hooks on the end. These are mainly used to latch onto an enemy and pull them back, drag them, pin them down, what have you. He gets creative with them. They detach from his wrists and extend for quite a long distance. These are one of his favourite weapons too, because he’s found enjoyment in skiing behind his enemies to pull them over. What can he say? He likes to have fun on the job.

When well equipped, Mirage is a good shot with a dart rifle. It’s his weapon of choice when it comes to long range combat, although he would much prefer the use of his blades. Having no kind of gun on his person, he relies on specially designed weaponry made for Cybertronians, and the sniper rifle is his choice. While he likes to keep active, he will find temporary ‘nests’ to snipe in to cover Bumblebee and Sideswipe when on missions. Once again, not his favourite weapon of choice, but in a pinch, he’ll use it if necessary.

*Inventory:
Most of what Mirage has is attached to his body. He will on occasion have a firearm that he can use, but instead of him coming with it, he will find a firearm later via the Junk Pile or something similar. For now, I’d like him to rely on his arm blades and grapple cables, because he was disarmed at the time of his pull point.

So his inventory will basically consist of his two blades which are attached at the arms and the hooked cables that extend from his wrists. Any other weapons that he would have had would have been removed from him.

*Starting Polarity: Whatever you guys feel he fits best. I can’t find any to suggest!

[Dio MIO. Did he really lose track of Bumblebee and Sideswipe? How did they manage to escape his acute eyesight? Those two could be such troublemakers. A soft sigh escaped his mouth as he put his fingers to the bridge of his ‘nose’, rubbing the corner of his optics. A simple communication would be enough to find them, right? Well, there was only one way to find out. He put a hand to his Audio Receptor, hoping to send out a call.]

Bumblebee, Sideswipe. Do you come in?

[No answer. That...wasn’t the greatest of signs. Especially when Autobot numbers were dwindling as they speak. He figured he’d try a different approach, and broadening his target audience. A finger clicked back onto his Audio Receptor, trying one more time.]

Attenzione, to anyone who may be listening. I am searching for two vehicles which have escaped my sight as of a few moments ago. One you will find is a rather...how you say...shocking yellow Camaro with two stripes alongside it, and the other is a stunning gray Corvette. Should anyone find one of these, contact this frequency quickly.

[You sound like a car salesman, Mirage...]

Gratze...

*Third Person Sample:
Foreign terrain was nothing new to Mirage. In fact, it had been some weird form of familiarity as far as he was concerned. With Cybertron gone, he was a (albeit unwilling) refugee, seeking shelter on Earth along with the rest of the Autobots.  Or that's what he'd come to know.  This, however, wasn't like Earth.  The ground was far too different in composition, and he'd learned quite rapidly that humans tended to have civilization everywhere on their planet. The only places it was absent were the uninhabitable areas.  And even then, those little fleshlings found a way.

The place was deserted, with no signs of his Autobot Brethren. Usually he was not too far from Bumblebee or Sideswipe...and their absence was rather worrying.  Not that the Ferrari would show it. In fact, the only reaction that came out of him was minor surprise at the location.  Off in the distance was a light, and while he knew he had to be wary, it oddly beckoned to him.

"By the Allspark..."

He had a feeling he would regret this, but nevertheless, his feet began to move towards that light.  Who knows, maybe it was the combined lights of the Autobot forces driving towards him. Allspark knows he could use them right now. They'd make this place not seem so foreign...

One needed SOME form of familiarity, even in the middle of nowhere.

"If this is a trap, then I should be careful."  he mused to himself as his cloaking ability activated. Better to be prepared in situations like this.  His walking continued, and it wouldn't be long before he reached that light on the horizon.

Final Notes:
-I’m putting Mirage’s height at 14-16 feet. Ferraris are small after all~

-I took some things from the DotM game and comic, I hope that doesn't cause any conflicts!
